MARCH TEA NOTES

MARCH 2020
Hello March! Have any of you seen the memes expressing that January lasted a year and February lasted a week?? Because I feel that! OBTC ended the month of February with a staff retreat filled with lots of learning and TEA(m) bonding, and on behalf of OBTC, I am feeling refreshed and motivated to sling some tea this Spring! Read below and learn about our tea, spice, and essential oil of the month!
Tea of the Month: Guayusa & Berry

Guayusa grows in the Amazon Rainforest and is lesser known across the world. Guayusa is nutrient dense, rich in amino acids, and high in antioxidants. When drinking Guayusa, you may notice your energy levels rising, along with a feeling of relaxation. This is because the caffeine in Guayusa is counterbalanced by the amino acid, L-theanine, which moderates the release of caffeine so you don't get the spike associated with coffee consumption. Drinking Guayusa regularly may promote longevity, as Guayusa has twice the amount of antioxidants as green tea. Antioxidants fight free radicals, which cause premature aging and disease. Guayusa is also an anti-inflammatory and promotes healthy digestion.

Our Berry herbal tisane is a blend of natural forest berries, blueberries, hibiscus flowers, cranberries, rose hips and natural flavors. This tea is very antioxidant rich! The dried hibiscus flowers in this blend add Vitamin C, and help lower high blood pressure and bad cholesterol!

Try this blend iced, with a dash of honey!

Spice of the Month: Vietnamese Cinnamon

Of the different types of cinnamon, Vietnamese, or Saigon, Cinnamon is surprisingly sweet, strong, and robustly spicy in aroma and flavor. It is known to have insulin enhancing properties for type 2 diabetes, helps lower bad cholesterol, is anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial, relieves asthma symptoms, is a cancer preventative, is antifungal and helps lower the risk of disease. We love adding Vietnamese Cinnamon to our teas (it tastes amazing blended in a hot cup of Matcha!) and we love to bake with it! Check out the recipes below!

Essential Oil of the Month: Lemongrass

Lemongrass Essential Oil has a cool, sweet and uplifting aroma. It is frequently used as a natural deodorizer, stress reducer, and to support the immune system. Lemongrass is also beneficial for lymphatic drainage, lactose intolerance, and to soothe sore muscles! Last week at our staff retreat, we made The Perfect Lip Balm, featuring the Lemongrass and Peppermint Essential Oils! Check out the recipe below!

We hope your March is blossoming with growth and wellness, while enjoying a moment with a daily cup of tea, either with the company of yourself or with great friends and family.
