Reflect & Reset
1. Write a letter to your future self.
Write a letter to yourself and open it on the same day next year. Write about what you want, what your goals are, and what you want to improve in your life. Focus on the positive. Make sure to include big things as well as the little things. When you look back at this letter a year from now, you'll be amazed to see how much you accomplished and grew as a person.
2. Get down to the nitty gritty.
Writing goals down is great, but sometimes you have to dive into detail about what those goals entail for them to actually come to fruition. Instead of writing down general goals, describe in detail how you want to feel in 2023. Think of it as your "theme" for the year. Do you want to feel less anxious? More outgoing? More financially secure? Then, list everyday habits that will help you achieve that feeling.
3. Remember that there is always a highlight.
Dedicate 12 pages in your journal or notebook (or even in the notes section of you phone) and title each of those pages with the months of the year. Everyday, take a minute to write your highlight of the day—it can even be just one word. On the hard days, this is especially grounding because it helps you remember that you can control your perspective with a little bit of positivity, even when things are hard. When you look back at each month, it will remind you that there is always something to be grateful for.
