WHAT IS MATCHA?
Matcha is a powdered form of green tea. When you drink a cup of matcha you're ingesting the entire tea leaf so you get the full benefits the plant has to offer.

MATCHA'S AMAZING BENEFITS
Matcha is packed with antioxidants: it is especially rich in the antioxidant class of catechin and, more specifically, EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate). EGCG and other catechins are free radical fighting warriors and can help to decrease risk of cellular damage and disease.
A cup of matcha is equivalent to 10 cups of green tea so matcha is also high in caffeine and rich in the amino acid L-theanine. L-theanine moderates the release of caffeine and increases alpha brain waves, the brain waves that create a mental state of relaxed alertness (which is said to increase creativity). This is why we believe matcha is a great study or work companion.

MATCHA'S UNSUNG GLORY
The most underrated factor of matcha is it's convenience! You don't need an infuser or even hot water to make a cup of matcha tea. This makes matcha a great companion for work, school, or travel. It is the ultimate on-the-go tea: just throw a tin of matcha in your bag along with your travel mug and drink anytime, anywhere.

A MONTH OF MATCHA
In an effort to get the full benefits of matcha, the founders of OBTC are doing a 30 day matcha challenge (8 ounces of matcha everyday for 30 days). Since one of our founders is a 3 time cancer survivor the goal is to build an antioxidant army to combat free radicals. A side benefit is the metabolism boosting and fat burning effect of matcha: during the holiday season this is a welcome addition to the benefit list!
