A FEW JOYFUL TIPS...

RUN, JUMP, AND DIVE INTO THIS HOLIDAY WEEK WITH ALL THE JOYFUL FEELS!
GET YOUR MIND RIGHT
It is so easy to lose perspective on what this week is about: gratitude and joy! Here are a few helpful tips on how to make this week full of gratitude, joy, and connection.
TRY THIS...
  1. Give up complaining for a full week: This might be harder than you think, but you'll feel much more positive feeding the loving voice in your head vs. the complaining one. This is especially important on Thanksgiving Day when we're surrounded by loved ones. Don't complain about each other or to each other: focus on maximizing joy and feeling all the gratitude for the people in your life.
  2. Get outside: Even though it's cold... even though it gets dark early.  Sunshine, fresh air, and the monoterpenes naturally emitted from plants will energize you and make you feel more joyful! We recommend taking a walk or hike with your family (or even just a few members of your family) on Thanksgiving Day. Everyone will feel happier and will feel like they have earned their meal!
  3. Choose activities: It is so easy to spend the holiday (and your whole life for that matter) mindlessly scrolling on your phone, slumping into a couch, or overindulging in food and drink. Instead, try cooking together, play a game, do a puzzle, or anything else that inspires human connection and awakens your mind! Choosing to engage your mind is a worthwhile daily practice, but is especially important when spending valuable time with loved ones.
  4. Give someone an unexpected gift: Everyone sort of expects gifts during the holiday season. A small, random, thoughtful gift that says "this just made me think of you" with a sweet note will make someone feel very loved and will fill your heart up too.
  5. Keep a journal, if only for a week! Set aside 5 minutes each morning and evening and to write about your intentions, your concerns, your goals, your experiences, and anything else that will help bring clarity to your life! Use this clarity to help you choose behaviors that bring you the most joy!
