An aqua fresca is a light, non alcoholic drink that has Mexican roots, making it very popular in New Mexico! Agua fresca translates to 'cool water' or 'fresh water' and this recipe lives up to that name! Made with our Prickly Pear tea, Sunflower honey, rosemary, and fresh pears, this drink will become your go-to during these warming months.
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED FROM US:
INGREDIENTS:
(makes 1 drink)
- 6 oz hot water for tea
- 4 rounded tsp. Prickly Pear
- 1 Tbsp. Sunflower honey
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- squeeze of fresh lemon juice
- 1 large pear
- ice
Instructions:
- Add Prickly Pear tea to an infuser and steep in hot water for at least 10 minutes. While you are waiting, make a simple syrup! Add Sunflower Honey, rosemary leaves, and a just a few tablespoons of hot water to a mug and let steep for at least 10 minutes. (Overnight is even better!) Set both in fridge to cool.
- Chop your pear in pieces and reserve a portion of it to cut into slices to use as garnish.
- Add rosemary simple syrup, chopped pear, lemon juice, chilled tea and ice to a blender. Blend until smooth.
- Pour over a strainer to remove any chunks (if you desire) then pour over ice. Garnish with pear slices and more rosemary.
