Do you love a good Thai tea? This recipe is a winner. Boba or no boba, that's up to you! A traditional Thai tea has a bright orange hue and is made up of tea, spices, and sweetened milk. We are going to show you a step-by-step process on how to make it yourself! Shining in the spotlight of this recipe is our South Indian black tea, which has a clean, balanced, and smooth flavor to it. Its low acidity and bold black tea taste makes it an ideal tea to use in this recipe. Sweetened with our Sunflower honey, which has plum undertones, and topped off with cream, this will become your new summertime bae!

South Indian Black

Sunflower Honey

INGREDIENTS

(makes 2 servings)

  • 3 Tbsp. OBTC South Indian black tea
  • 1 Tbsp. OBTC Sunflower Honey (more if you want it sweeter)
  • 2 cardamom pods
  • 1 piece of star anise (or a tiny splash of anise extract)
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 cup of water
  • ice
  • a splash of milk. Sweetened condensed milk is typically used in Thai tea, but you can also use half-and-half, coconut milk, or oat milk.
  • fruit to garnish, if desired

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Add your South Indian black tea and spices to an infuser. Boil your water and steep the tea mixture for a full 5 minutes.
  2. Remove infuser and sweeten with Sunflower honey. Set aside to cool.
  3. Fill a cup up with ice (add boba at this step if desired) and pour your tea over. 
  4. Top with milk of your choice!
