REFRESHING. FRUIT-FORWARD. BRIGHT.

TRY THIS FOR YOUR AFTERNOON TEA: Prickly Pear & Lemongrass
INGREDIENTS:
green rooibos, sencha green tea, hibiscus, pear, safflower, natural flavors and lemongrass
HOW TO PREPARE:
serve with a spoonful of mesquite honey, a generous squeeze of lime, and poured over ice
WHY WE LOVE IT:
Prickly Pear has a delicate melon-like sweetness that is livened up with tangy hibiscus; the addition of Lemongrass makes this blend even more bright and refreshing! This combination is very low in caffeine, which makes it a nice blend for the afternoon and early evening.
HOW THIS BLEND BOOSTS WELLNESS:
Rooibos tea is rich in the antioxidants aspalathin, quercetin, and luteolin. The former has shown to have positive effects on balancing blood sugar levels while the latter two help to kill cancer cells and prevent tumor growth.
Green tea (Camellia sinensis) has long been praised for its medicinal uses and soothing effects on the mind. It is rich in antioxidants and catechins, which contributes to its use as a preventative measure against cancer. Catechins help protect cells from carcinogens and free radicals, they help lower cholesterol, and they aid in the metabolization of fats. Green tea is also antibacterial and antiviral, making it a great tool for warding off colds, flu, and viruses.
Camellia sinensis teas (white, green, black, oolong, and pu erh) are, of course, so wonderful for the mind because they simultaneously stimulate and soothe us. This makes tea a wonderful companion for the workday, or for inciting lovely conversations and ideas.
The brain boosting benefits extend beyond the short term though: regular consumption of green tea has been linked to decreased risk of neurologically degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
Additionally, Lemongrass is high in Vitamin C and helps to combat disease and infection with its anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.
We could go on and on about this fruit-forward refresher, but you'll just have to try it yourself to see how it makes you feel!
HAPPY TEA TIME FRIENDS!
