Are you doing the matcha challenge?
Matcha is just powdered green tea, so when you drink matcha, you're consuming the full leaf and all of its nutrients!
Here's the scoop.
We are challenging our family, team, and customers to drink matcha once a day for the month of January. Our inspiration to start the Matcha Challenge came from the 3 three time cancer survivor and matriarch of our tea family, Dana. Dana is an advocate of living a preventative lifestyle, so she always encourages us to live a low-stress life and consume a diet rich in antioxidants. Matcha supports both of these goals!
- Chlorophyll, the element that gives green tea and other plants their signature green color, is a powerful detoxifier, helping to eliminate both chemicals and heavy metals from the body. Because matcha is carefully shade-grown, it is rich in chlorophyll, making it a great daily detox tea.
- Studies show that green tea and matcha can decrease several heart disease risk factors.
- Matcha boosts metabolism and fat burning.
- Matcha is rich in L-theanine, a rare amino acid that actually promotes a state of relaxation and well-being. Matcha has also been shown to improve attention, memory, and reaction time.
- Matcha contains a concentrated amount of antioxidants, which may reduce cell damage and prevent chronic disease.
How do you make matcha?
⬇
Try 1 teaspoon of matcha whisked into hot water. We recommend using water no hotter than 175℉ (steaming but not boiling), so that your matcha won't taste bitter or astringent.
There are many ways to make matcha, but the most simple and popular way is to make a matcha latte. To make a latte, add a few splashes of the hot water to your matcha and whisk until frothy and completely dissolved. Then add frothed milk (or your favorite dairy alternative) and honey.
Not into lattes? No problem; you can easily mix a little matcha into your favorite tea or use it in cooking. We'll be sharing recipes all month long so keep an eye out for new ways to incorporate matcha into your routine.
Does green tea/matcha make you feel nauseous?
⬇
Matcha is super nutrient dense and tannic, so it is best to avoid drinking matcha on an empty stomach (just like many vitamins). Sip slowly and listen to your body. If you start to feel uncomfortable, take a break from your matcha and come back to it later.
Keep in touch throughout the challenge.
